SIMUW: My Math Journey (Put on Subtitles CC)

An original math song, written for a talent show at the Summer Institute of Mathematics at the University of Washington (SIMUW). “This is a math appreciation song, where I go over a brief timeline of my math journey. I wrote this song, with the hopes that my fellow simlettes would be able to somwhat relate to it. Hope you enjoy.” Lyrics: Mathematics, it is so mathematical. clearing radicals if they’re problematical, it’s magical. Mathematics, is truly beautiful, Oh it is wonderful it makes me joyful, and musical ;) In the very beginning, of our mathematical journey, we learned how to addsubtract, multiply, and divide. Carrying numbers, carried us through elementary school, Until our peers saw math as uncool. We are math nerds! And proud to be! We manipulate equations, and approach infinity! We are math nerds! We are a universal family, We integrate math, into life without any boundaries + C! Then came algebra, axis of symmetry of a parabola, asymptotes-logs, conics, the distance formula! Then came geometry, with triangle similarities, trig functions altitudes, proofs and symmetry. We are math nerds! And proud to be! We manipulate equations, and approach infinity! We are math nerds! We are a universal family, We integrate math, into life without any boundaries + C! Our first day of Pre-Calculus, we then entered the math matrix. our cardioids grew three times that day, our love for math has no max anyway. Then came calculus, first and second derivative test. lo-di-high-minus-high-d-low, over the square of what’s below. Now… ` We found our way to SIMUW, where you could finally be you, We realized there’s so much more to math, our math journey’s not a single path. We found company with other beings, we’re kinda like axiomatic siblings. We accepted each other for who we are, to make life a little better. (One more time!) We are math nerds! And proud to be!
