Baba Sodal 2017 Know the History and view festival सिद्ध बाबा सोडल का इतिहास जाने Jalndhar----Sodal Mandir is situated the near Devi Talab Mandir on Sodal Road. Vinay Jalandhari (President Sidh Baba Sodal Mandir Talab Kar Sewa Committee Regd.) briefed to Weekly News the history of Baba Sodal. According to him Baba Sodal was born in a family of the Chadha Bradari in Jalandhar city with the blessings of the saint which was residing at the place of the Sodal Mandir . Once Baba Sodal’s mother went to the nearby pond to wash clothes and her child (Sodal) also followed her to the pond despite being told repeatedly not to do so and go back home Being disappointed and irritated by his naughty son she . asked him (Sodal) to drown himself in the pond. Sodal plunged into the pond. The nearby farmers rushed to rescue Sodal and when they caught the child they were feared to see that the child was protected by the snake. Baba Sodal told her mother that anybody who worships him with true heart gets eternal happiness.The above incident took place on Poornima of the month of September. Since then a festgival of Anant Chaturdashi is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Since then thousands of devotees visit the place from different places of India and abroad. A special type of sacrament (Prashad) called ‘Baba Ji Ka Topa’ prepared by the Chadha family is being distributed among the devotees concluded Vinay Jalandhari. Ravi Marwaha (general secretary Sidh Baba Sodal Mandir Talab Committee Regd) told Weekly News that the committee is managing the fair for the last 40 years along with the Sodal Mandir Trust.He explained that on the day at 08 hrs the idol of Baba Sodal was washed with Panch Amrit (Holy Water) and at 10 hrs there is ‘Havan Yag’ .(Holy prayer), at 16.30 hrs the fair is being inaugurated officially according to Hindu rites, at 17.30 there is a flag hoisting ceremony and at 21.00 hrs Jagran starts. This is the fixed programme for the Sodal Festival for every year.
