#top10 #amazing #animals #superpower #facts #knowable Hey! You must think you’re pretty cool, just because you can wiggle your ears, or make weird noises with your hands, or tie a cherry stem with your tongue. Ok… yeah, that IS pretty cool. But did you know some of the animals amongst us have some really neat tricks of their own up their sleeves… uhhh.. if they had sleeves, that is. Here are 10 animals with some amazing abilities. 10. #Most of us really don’t want to be known as the dull one in the crowd. But the Golden #Tortoise Beetle can take its brilliant, metallic gold color down a few notches to a dull, not-so-cool reddish tint. It can do this when it’s under stress. The beetle squeezes a thin layer of moisture between its shell and inner layer. A truly golden, or spotty reddish feat. 9. These guys might look like they belong to a certain villain in a #James Bond #movie – remember that Jaws guy? But the crazy hard teeth on the Chiton Mollusc (or Chaetopleura apiculata) if you want to get scientific, are the real deal. Those sharp pearly blacks are made of magnetite, which is the hardest marterial in a living organism. These critters have been around for millions of years and their hard-as-metal teeth were formed through the iron oxide in the ocean. 8. You know how all the #women light up when they hear that guy with the British or French accent ? Makes ‘em all googly-eyed and such ? Well, the Lyrebird has got that covered… and then some. The male Lyrebird will spend most of his time mimicking the sounds of more than 20 other bird types to impress their potential mates. And #believe it or not, they call also mimic more human sounds, such as car alarms and even chainsaws. Now what lady Lyrebird wouldn’t be turned on by that ? 7. The Waterless Tadpoles, or Micrixalus Herrei, have some very #strange characteristics. They perform extreme dances to court the females, and they do even more #extreme dances to fend off their rivals. They burrow under sand and wet river floors, using muscular tails to help them push through silt and gravel. Their ribs, very usual for such a creature, help to provide them strength as they move under the sand. Their digestive system is also very odd, as their meals of decayed organic matter move through bags made of limestone in their guts. 6. If you’re likely to swim the #oceans at night, at least you can see the glow-in-the-dark sharks coming. Lanternsharks, along with the newly discovered Ninja Lanternshark, can light up the waters with a soft blue glow. This ability is caused by organs called photophores. Some #sharks have them covering their entire undersides, while others have them around only their heads. But marine biologists have yet to figure out exactly WHY they glow. 5. Most #octopuses can camouflage themselves to at least some degree. But the Mimic Octopus operates on a whole different level. These creatures, when feeling the presence of an impending #attack, can often turn themselves into a
