Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 95th Birthday Tribute HD

Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was born on the 21st April 1926. Being the first child of the Duke (later King George VI) and Duchess of York (later the Queen Mother) this made her the heir to the throne of Great Britain and the Commonwealth. She had a fairly sheltered childhood and later played her part to fight for Britain during WW2 in the ATS, mending and driving ambulances. After the War, she settled down with her husband, Prince Philip, and began her career as a serving Royal. At the young age of 25, Princess Elizabeth was now Queen Elizabeth II following the passing of her father. From her coronation day in June 1953 to today, Her Majesty has stood by the side of Great Britain. She has always been there for her family and, despite being our Monarch, has often put them first. We must remember after all that it’s not so much that they are Royal, more that they are a Family. There have been many ups and downs over the years but we have always supported her and looked to her in times of need. Elizabeth’s Christmas Messages provide us all with inspiration, hope and the chance to look back and reflect on how important our past is in shaping our future. Some say that the Monarchy has no place in modern society but if you ask me, I’d say it’s stronger today than it ever has been. As Philip said himself, “Life must go on”. It was he who first brought the cameras into the palace and modernised the Monarchy for modern standards. If not for him, we may have been a Republic years ago. And so I conclude, this is not just a celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s life, but also that of Prince Philip who remained faithfully by her side for the best part of 73 years.
