Didier Drogba Foundation Ball 2015

This video is made as an homage and thank you to Didier for all of the work that you have put into making the clinic in Ivory Coast a reality. You are a true inspiration, thank you! The Didier Drogba Foundation raised an incredible £400,000 at the charity’s fourth ball, held on Saturday evening at The Dorchester Hotel. Founded in 2007 by Chelsea forward and former Ivory Coast international, Didier Drogba, the Foundation has been providing financial support across health and education in Africa for nearly a decade. The money raised from this year’s ball will be used to kit out and complete the medical clinic that the charity has funded in Abidjan, Ivory Coast’s capital. The clinic is due to open its doors later this year. The Foundation also plans to finance a number of mobile medical clinics that will visit the local villages outside of Abidjan to treat people that are either too sick or can’t afford to travel to the capital. At the ball, Didier was joined by fellow footballers Petr Cech, Eden Hazard, Bransilav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill, Juan Cuadrado, Nemanja Matic, Thierry Henry, Louis Saha, Edgar Davids, Jermaine Defoe and John Terry, as well as Oscar nominated actor and star of Blood Diamond, Djimon Hounsou. Hosted by Sarah-Jane Crawford and Ayden Taylor, the evening saw performances from Grammy nominated singer Christina Milian who sung hits including “AM to PM”, “Dip it Low” and “Say I”. Enjoying the atmosphere and showing off their dance moves Christina was joined on stage by Didier and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard before Fuse ODG entertained the guests with his top ten hit “Dangerous Love” and “T.I.N.A”. The main focus of the night was the live auction which saw guests bid against each other for VIP tickets to the upcoming Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight, amongst other top prizes. Eden Hazard and Branislav Ivanovic went head to head in a bidding war for a mod scooter signed by Chelsea’s 2012 Champion’s League winning team, but the pair were out bid on the night. Didier said “I’m always so overwhelmed by the kind generosity and support that we see each time we host these events and Saturday was no exception.
