The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has released bodycam footage of one of its deputies fatally shooting a disarmed man eight times after arriving on the scene to assist his brother, who had himself been fatally shot in a gun fight. The deputy that killed Richardson has been placed on administrative leave following the shooting, with Orange County Sheriff John Mina saying that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. However, he chose to release the bodycam footage in full, saying that ‘we think it’s important for members of our community to view the entirety of what is released rather than rely on short snippets in the media.’
