You can get the same affect on any iPhone as the portrait mode on the iPhone 7 Plus. Portrait mode basically gives the photo a bokeh affect in other words it blurs the background but keeps the subject nice and clear. You can use an app called "Bokeh Lens" for any iPhone and you can do more with this but it takes a little more time then using the actual portrait mode on the iPhone 7 plus.
