A Cornish Wartime Christmas 1940

11.09.2022
A brief look at what Christmas was like in 1940 - the second wartime Christmas of the Second World War and one when the people of Britain were under fire. Using archive photos, old newspaper clippings, newsreel footage, old Christmas cards and postcards, old songs and sound recordings this video-book style presentation gives a snapshot of the festivities in Cornwall. Today we take so much for granted. This video is made to honour the generation who sacrificed so much so we could live in freedom. If you have any photos of a Cornish wartime Christmas, or have a story to tell, please leave a comment. The years 1941-44 will follow in due course (at the latest by Christmas 2016). Make sure you have also watched the video on Christmas 1939 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_JHHJV4o6k and 1941https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBRclEOw1OA my other videos on Cornwall in World War Two.
