59994, World’s Highest Score (Yoshi’s Story, 1-4, Tower Climb, 9999 Individual Score)
Some time ago I attempted a Highest Score Challenge for this game where I reached a total of 39,045. (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?action_edit=1&list=PLxxgS9r8op1qq6I3_x0AEYy15EooIpAaW) The record at the time was superior to mine, although that was mostly down to 4-4, Neuron Jungle, where it is possible to farm the same points and obtain a total of 9999. From playing around I managed to find ways of farming the same points on every level and obtain a score of 9999. I found out that when you kill enemies with eggs, they don’t actually die immediately; they spin around for a moment and then disappear. However, you score the points as soon as the egg makes contact with the enemy. When you kill an enemy with an egg, they’re not actually classed as dead until they disappear, which means you score the points for killing them before actually killing them. When I stumbled upon an enemy near a Miss-Warp, I decided to throw an egg at the enemy, get the points for the egg making contact, but then warping off before the enemy had actually officially died. I then returned and the enemy was still there. Which means it’s possible to keep farming points; it’s possible to score points by making the game think you’ve killed an enemy without actually killing them, and then come back and do the trick again until you score 9999. I checked every page, hoping that I’d find at least one level on each page where it’s possible to farm points, and I was in luck. All you need is an enemy who’s near a Miss-Warp and you can through the egg at the enemy but then warp away while scoring the points for the enemies’ death without actually killing them. The best way to do this is to pick a level where an enemy is near a Miss-Warp; preferably an enemy who drops a lot of points. Then go about completing the level the normal way; score as many points as possible from eating Melons, collecting Hearts and killing non-usual enemies. When you’re one fruit away from completing the level, you then need to farm points from the enemies. Wake up a total of two Miss-Warps; one who is near the enemy and another who is near an Egg Box; you need to stock up. Don’t wake up any more than two Miss-Warps otherwise you’d have to make three or four warps before you can farm against the enemy. By having just two Miss-Warps you only have to warp twice and so you can utilize you scoring speed. In this level, 1-4, Tower Climb, I tried my best to score as many points as possible by getting good jump-combos on the butterflies, collecting all the hearts, lots of coins and only eating Melons. I knew Warp One was near a Butterfly which would get me sixteen points each time, and the other Warp was near an Egg Box so I could quickly refill my eggs. By this point it was all about farming points against the Butterfly until reaching the big 9999, and the last Melon was intentionally left right next to me. I chose this level because it has lots of opportunities to score well on and had really good farming t
