They were announced on September 12, 2017, alongside the iPhone X at the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple Park campus by Apple CEO Tim Cook, succeeding the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. They are scheduled to be released on September 22, 2017. The iPhone 8 features Qi-standard wireless charging and is rated IP67 water resistant. Hardware The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus retain the Retina HD Displays, but they now have True Tone technology, which can be also found on the IPad Pro and the new iPhone X. The iPhone 8 features the same camera as its predecessor, but with a new sensor. The iPhone 8 Plus also features the same two cameras as the iPhone 7 Plus, but with improvements. It is a 12 MP wide-angle camera with six-element lens, autofocus, IR filter, burst mode, f/1.8 aperture, digital image stabilization, and optical image stabilization. It can record 4K video at 24, 30, or 60 fps or 1080p at 30 or 60 fps, and slow-motion video (1080p at 120 or 240 fps), timelapse with stabilization. It can capture panoramas as well. The accompanied telephoto lens has 2× optical zoom and 10× digital zoom, Portrait Lighting (beta), and a f/2.8 aperture. The quad-LED "True Tone" flash now has Slow Sync as well. Both models have a 7 MP FaceTime HD camera with a f/2.2 aperture. It can capture in burst mode, it has exposure control, face detection, auto-HDR, auto image stabilization, Retina flash, and 1080p HD video recording. The iPhone 8 contains the Apple A11 Bionic SoC, which is a hexa-core processor using the 10nm process. Both iPhones will come with 64 GB and 256 GB options. There will be three color options: Silver, Gold and Space Gray. Both the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus can support the Qi-standard wireless charging.
