Jacque Hammond - “Wood” NPR Tiny Desk Contest 2018 Entry HD
I’m singing my original song “Wood”. Inspired by the fear of opening up, I wanted to write a song where two people took a chance on love despite what their personal histories tell them. I feel that sometimes there’s an urgency we should take heed to in order to shift the paradigm. I’ve struggled with vulnerability coming from a family with a lot of strong women. I wanted to embrace my softer side. This is my anthem for learning to let myself be seen emotionally. To be free! Video by: Jason Charles Lucero “Wood” Written by Jacque Hammond Lyrics: Out on the ocean, far and wide I see you worried, I know you hide from me No need to hurry, we can take our time I know I want you in my life How can we love each other when we both were raised by wolves? Baby howl at the moon before the black fades to blue Let’s knock on wood Let’s keep it open, enjoy the tide Unbound and broken, the wave is right Everything is two fold, and I know I don’t want you to go The world is way to big to walk alone How can we love each other when we both were raised by wolves? Baby howl at the moon before the black fades to blue Let’s knock on wood Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh How can we love each other when we both were raised by wolves? Baby howl at the moon before the black fades to blue Let’s knock on wood How can we love each other when we both were raised by wolves? Baby howl at the moon before the black fades to blue Let’s knock on wood jacquehammond.com
