ENCANTO | Bruno Madrigal Shot Progression | Kee Suong | @3D Animation Internships HD

Everybody loves BRUNO! -and I want to talk about him! Can finally share some work for Encanto! This shot seemed a good place to start. I was on the “Bruno-vision” team, so a good amount of work I did for Encanto was helping to complete shots with this effect. The team was supervised by Alex Moaveni, who created the amazing sand wall vision rig. I’ll share other shots that hi-light the rig better. For this shot, I used it for the background wall of sand. 2: Ideas were thrown around of the pieces coming together to form the tablet, but that created story inconsistencies. 3: Like I mentioned, the first thing to create was the sand wall. I really like the green bursts of glowing sand! 4: Then I worked on revealing the vision tablet. A lot of layers to this part, which I’ll try to break down. Of course, I had to think about how to make it look like the sand was forming it, but that was a problem for another day. 5: I decided to create maps for the reveal and glows for the actual tablet geometry. This one is the reveal map that I used to animate the opacity of the tablet. 6: This one is for the edge glows on the tablet. Just looking for opportunities to create visual interest. 7: This is a volume pass. It’s hard to see in the final version, but it’s there. 8: I also used the velocity from the volume pass to drive the animation of many particulate layers. Here’s one of a few. 9: Finally, the sand layer that forms the tablet, or at least I hope it appears that way. 10: This is my final render and comp of all the elements together.
