DooM (2016) Open Beta - i5 4690K & GTX 770 - FPS Test and Settings HD
Greetings, everyone. Today we’re testing the DooM open beta, on the PC, and with only one month left until release I think a small testing video is in order. Before anything else, my most relevant PC specs are the following: -CPU: i5 4690K@4.4 GHz (Turbo) with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO. -Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger. -GPU: Asus GTX 770 DirectCU II OC 2 GB with no extra OC and latest WHQL driver (346.72) -RAM: 16 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28. -Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB where both game and O.S. are installed. -O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates. -Game running at 1080p/144 Hz. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t offer us access to the Advance Graphic options menu, so we cannot get into some heavy tweaking here for now, so the performance we get with this beta shouldn’t be taken as final, in any form or way, at all. As we can see in the video, resolution options are varied, from a minimum of 720p (which according to official minimum requirements, it’s the setting recommended for a GTX 670), and go up to 4k at 16:9. I can’t test ultra wide 21:9 with my current monitor so I won’t talk about that, hopefully the game supports those modes too. So, we can also see the game has some special antialiasing methods, from TAA to TSSAA, and mixing some FXAA in there too. I don’t exactly know which AA method will be the best one here, or the one that would look the best, but anything with FXAA will look a bit blurrier always, that’s still the case here. Also, when using TAA+FXAA the game seems to run a bit worse, so there’s that to take into consideration at least. TSSA by itself seems good enough, looks crisp although some places seem to not be affected by it much, for now. In any case, the game seemed to run at 60 FPS quite often for me, but it still didn’t feel completely smooth, something that got a lot worse when later in the video I enable TAA+FXAA with a low amount of motion blur; a new form of stutter whenever I moved the camera or was in close combat with someone else appeared, and it made the gameplay suffer a lot. Anyway, motion blur is something you shouldn’t consider using on fast paced shooters, unless it’s a very tiny amount and doesn’t affect input lag or performance. With that said, since I wasn’t able to check the advanced settings, I can’t really give much advice on what settings to tweak or use, we’ll just have to wait for the full game next month, which I will play from day one, of course, been waiting a lot for this one :D Anyway, that’s all for now, I hope you enjoyed this short video, and I’ll see you in the next one : ) Edit: Hotfix driver released, go here for more info and download: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/930978/geforce-drivers/announcing-geforce-hot-fix-driver-364-96/
