BMW E39 (1998) | POV TEST DRIVE | 2.5 PETROL | #05 HD

The BMW 5 Series is an exclusive car range produced from 1972 within 7 generations. The fourth-generation was manufactured from 1995 to 2004. The station wagon body style was presented a year after launch in 1996. The e39 was the first car in the range that was offered with four-cylinder diesel. Unlike the previous (E34) and next (E60) generations, the E39 was not offered with a 4x4 wheel drive. Despite the very good mechanical side, the main problem of the car remains rust, that after over 20 years might be a problem for some of the cars offered to sell. The Car presented in this episode is a 1998, 2,5 liters, 170 HP version. The mechanics and interior are in perfect condition thanks to the owner who takes care of the car with love. The rust is not a problem in this certain car, being present in usual (3) places as spot, surface rust (BMW did not galvanize its vehicles back then). I must admit this BMW offers comfort and easiness in driving at higher speeds that are remarkable also for modern cars.
