Anthem Title: “Туркменистан Совет Социалстик Республикасынын Гимни” (Turkmen (Cyrillic script)) “Türkmenistan Sovet Sotsialistik Respublikasy Döwlet Gimni” (Turkmen (Latin alphabet)) “State Anthem of the Turkmen SSR” (English translation) Description: This anthem was previously used when Turkmenistan was a republic of the Soviet Union, like all other anthems of Soviet republics, the lyrics were altered slightly on April 12, 1978 to the ones presented here upon the passing of Stalin (who was mentioned in the anthem). For several years after 1991 independence, this anthem was kept as the official anthem of the new nation, until a new one was created in 1997.
