Some people think that houses in the best neighborhoods or new construction should be inexpensive. Developers using public money (and I do not support that practice) are forced to include affordable units in their fancy condo projects. We end up with a redefinition of what an affordable living unit is. The hard work incentive is erased. If people can get a luxury living unit for cheap then what is the point of living in an inexpensive unit that needs work in a not so great area that you can actually afford and add value to? Areas like Park Circle are relegated to third class living areas by government policies like these and by wasteful attitudes that are created by the redefinition of affordable housing. If you support forced affordable housing in areas where there are high market rates then you support the destruction of neighborhoods like Park Circle.
