Men of War: Assault Squad 2 is a real-time tactics / strategy game set in World War II. It is a sequel to the 2011 game Men of War: Assault Squad.[1] The early access version of the game was released on March 20, 2014. It was fought on the planet Kashyyyk, the homeworld of the Wookiees and a vital Republic member world. The Mytaranor sector world had been invaded by the Confederacy of Independent Systems hoping to claim the Kashyyyk hyperspace junction, as well as gain information on secret hyperspace routes rumored to be in Wookiee archives, that could turn the war in its favor. In the course of the battle, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issued Order 66 and shortly afterwards proclaimed the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire. Clone troopers turned their weapons on their Jedi officers, though the Wookiees helped many Jedi escape. Several days of confused fighting followed that only ended with the deactivation of the Separatist Droid Army and the formal end of the Clone Wars. Kashyyyk would be totally subjugated by the Empire several weeks later and endured a prolonged period of occupation until it was at last liberated by the New Republic in 4 ABY.
