WWII Flare Gun Restoration HD

In this video I restore a WWII 37mm M8 pyrotechnic signal flare pistol. These flare pistols were used during and after WWII. They were designed to be mounted to the aircraft using a special mount, but can also be used as a conventional flare gun. The barrel has studs for attachment to the flare port in the fuselage of larger aircraft such as bombers. I began by soaking the rusty pistol in rust remover overnight. After it was dismantled, I sandblasted the larger parts and chose to coat them with Cerakote ceramic coating. The Cerakote was very easy to use and required baking in the oven at 200F for 2 hours to fully cure. The smaller parts were put into the vibratory tumbler to be cleaned from all the rust. Once cleaned up I cold blued the springs and hot blued the other internals. Most of the screws and bolts were polished. The scales were in relatively great shape and I cleaned and conditioned them.
