Lonr. - RED LIGHT - Live Session | Vevo Ctrl As hip-hop’s soundscape continues widening, artists like Lonr. become its intrepid explorers, ready to map out new realms. That boundary shirking aura is baked into the Cape Cod bred singer-songwriter’s moniker, an acronym that stands for “Land Of Nothing Real” and doubles as the title of his 2020 debut EP. The project featured “A.M.” which, at this point, is essentially one of music TikTok’s Founding Fathers; It also reunited Lonr. with H.E.R., a partnership that previously earned him a GRAMMY for pen work on the R&B star’s eponymous album. 2020 also brought Lonr. into our DSCVR ranks, and we’ve been behind him since. Now ‘Land of Nothing Real 2’ is here. It was only right to give the project a proper welcome into the world, so we sent up the smoke signals for a Ctrl session. Fittingly, “HI LONR” and “RED LIGHT” sounded unlike anything we’ve recorded here, trading the format’s usual trap hats and fiery flows for orchestral violins and yearning vocal runs.
