I decided to create this atrocity. 3 days of "Careless Whisper" later, and the classic XCOM 2 meme is reborn in low res animated glory. This is a compositing project, so I did very little actual animation (just the keyframed elbow pad and hand-drawn blinking eyes for Shen and Vahlen). The rest was just masking and color correction, as well as some fluid simulation for the subtle wibble on the hologlobe. A good amount of photoshop work as well, to fill in the gaps in the background and properly remove the original character. Their skills saved my ass on this project several times, as I was able to tell where they switched from 2s to 3s to even 8s at times (animator jargon). This really helped me get things to match, and helped me truly appreciate television animators, who are the baddest motherfuckers around!
