SUP or stand up paddle boards were designed for standing. However, sitting is more comfortable and easier on feet than standing. Same way as you are sitting on a bike, you can sit on a paddle board, while easily paddling using SUP paddle. Seat is also great for fishing or just resting on a long distance trips. It also feels more stable for those of us who are less agile and/or elderly.
