Anything that sparks thought is forbidden, since knowledge was thought to create chaos. Eventually, Montag meets a strange girl named Clarisse. She talked to him about the beauty of life and his occupation. This leads to Montag beginning to question the society he lives in. After killing Captain Beatty, Montag is forced to leave the city. He finds a group of homeless men, who all watched as the city was bombed. They plan to rebuild the city, however, this time on the basis of knowledge.
