"Sunday, 21 August The 3rd stage of the Vuelta 2022 starts and finishes in Breda. The riders start at the castle of Breda and the finish line is after 193.2 kilometres in front of the Chassé Theatre. At the castle of Breda, the cyclists pedal and ride across the castle square to the Great Church. There they click off the pedals again, because the municipality of Breda likes to let the riders run through the 15th century building in their racing shoes. This is still the case during the neutralisation. The official start is in the south of the city, at the Ulvenhoutselaan, and then it goes on to Alphen-Chaam and Baarle-Nassau. In a counter-clockwise loop, the Vuelta passes through Dongen, Oosterhout, Zevenbergen, Steenbergen, Bergen op Zoom and Hoogerheide, where Mathieu van der Poel became Dutch champion in 2018. Via Roosendaal, Rucphen and Sint-Willebrord (the birth and death place of one of the first Dutch Tour heroes, Wout Wagtmans), the route then heads back to Breda. The caravan approaches Breda via the Sprundelsebaan and the Ettensebaan, and after a diversion the riders storm back into the city centre via the Kapittelweg.
