Tim Baker - Spirit (The Side Door Sessions) HD
Spirit - By Tim Baker Filmed by Phil Maloney and Duncan de Young Edited by Curtis Lobb Mixed by Howie Beck Side Door Sessions Full Doc: https://goo.gl/qPkZRv This performance was filmed in Quidi Vidi, Newfoundland & Labrador at the end of the tour. I was invited to do a Lawnya Vawnya Songwriters Residency there at the lovely Inn By Mallard, and as part of it, did a couple shows at the end of the week and gave the proceeds to the Girls Rock NL. My dear friend and HR bandmate Phil Maloney shot the video, with Duncan de Young, and it was edited by Curt Lobb. We chose to show this song in this location for obvious reasons i guess: after weeks playing it out West and over the Prairies and the Canadian Shield, it felt especially good and full and right to play there on the edge of the water, at the edge of Town. It’s a song that was a long time coming. In all the years touring with the band, we must’ve left and returned to St John’s a thousand times. And each time you return, especially from a long run in the US or abroad, you’re newly hit with the unique energy of it - and how the weather and architecture and language and music and geography of the place have, over the years, gotten inside you and built you in their image - and so coming home and seeing your people and going through your old haunts feels a bit like a puzzle piece slotting back into place. Its hard to explain. But music is a big part of it. So i wrote this song. SPIRIT - Lyrics and Chords Eb (ie. capo3 Cmajor) I.
