VR Painting | Alex’s Sci Fi World | Matt Schaefer and Alex Martin Collaboration HD

VR painting and animation inspired by the original artwork of Alex Martin. His work is so rich in character that I felt compelled to bring it to life in VR. With Alex’s help/approval I painted, animated, and build this video to capture the essence of his vision. After spending intimate time with Alex’s style I was able to add some new design. Alex also helped with the audio by creating custom sound designs, voice overs, and original music (something he’s also insanely good at). All the animation in this video was done in Quill, before the animation update, by “puppeteering” different layers and screen recording the performance. Now that Quill has built in animation features, I will go back in and add keyframe animations all over the place. This may include flying vehicles/bots, rain, people walking, flickering lights, eyes blinking in the dark, etc. Might spend the most time animating the band as it’s visible from all angles. Or even the giant octopus. There are so many possibilities now!
