In Africa we do things differently!! This setup has been working great for almost a year. And yes I realize I could simply have soldered a cable instead of using the male USB plug to power the hub. I wanted to keep the hub separate from the power-supply because the hubs are of such poor quality they die regularly although this one seems to be holding up well.
