Troegs DOUBLE Blizzard is described by the brewery as follows: "This is Blizzard of Hops … turned up to 11. For DOUBLE Blizzard, we used a cooler temperature for the kettle hop additions, softening the character of the Centennial, Chinook and El Dorado. On the cold side, we dry-hopped with four pounds per barrel of Chinook and Galaxy. At 8.3% ABV, we’re into semi-hazy Double IPA territory, and we like it here. 8.3% ABV 80 - 100 IBU Malt: Pilsner, Unmalted Wheat, White Wheat Hops: Centennial, Chinook, El Dorado Dry Hops: Chinook, Galaxy Yeast: Ale Color: Hazy Gold" This description sounds quote pleasant. Let see if Lagunitas Born Yesterday Pale Ale 2019 lives up to the description. My written review follows: Troegs DOUBLE Blizzard WRITTEN REVIEW: A: Troegs DOUBLE Blizzard pours a super hazy golden color with plenty of carbonation. A dense, pillowy 2 finger kaki head quickly forms and leaves sticky glass lacing as it recedes. The retention is awesome and tons of alcohol legs cling to the jar. S: Citrus followed by tropical fruits and piney DANK hops dominate the initial waft. Citrus peel bitterness, oranges, grapefruit and grassy herbal notes. All of this is tied together by a pleasantly sweet malt background aroma. No alcohol aroma was detected. T: Orange / tangerine initially, followed by strong, mando / peach and pine. Very soft bitterness in the finish. Big hops front to back. Only a very faint alcohol taste was detected in the last dregs of the beer. M: Medium body with smooth carbonation. Crisp, clean and very easy to drink. O: Troegs DOUBLE Blizzard is another tasty offering from Troegs. It not a mind blower, but very well made and SUPER crushable. I would drink this beer again and recommend it.
