Pioneer SX-440 Stereo Receiver Introduction / Overview HD
Not a demonstration--no music is played as demo videos can be seen elsewhere on YouTube. Personal note: A good-looking receiver. Often the bulbs are out, but can be replaced with ready-made LED bulbs that just screw in. I diffused the LED lenses with fine sandpaper after making this video; otherwise you will get annoying bright spots which alternate with darker spots, since the LEDs shine straight forward, like a flashlight. This can be seen in the video. Made from 1970-1973. OTL (ouput-transformerless) capacitor-coupled power amp. 12 watts per channel continuous into 8 ohms. 3-gang tuning capacitor. Midnight black acrylic front plate. Real wood veneer; therefore you need to make sure the veneer is good, since a repair is time consuming and not easy. I got mine from eBay where the seller "forgot" to mention and photograph damaged veneer. From this series there were also the SX-770 and the SX-990.
