Future Worlds Center and Digital Futures Task Force, DG Connect, European Commission (EC) co-organized the co-Laboratory "Reinventing Democracy in the Digital Era" under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency, the Minister of Education Dr. Yiorgos Demesthenous, Mrs. Androula Vasilliou, Member of the EC, the Institute for 21st Century Agoras and the Mayor of Nicosia Constantinos Yiorkatzis. Youth from across Europe invested over 500 person hours using the methodology of structured dialogic design to produce over a hundred descriptors of an ideal future system of governance that fully exploits future and emerging technologies. Their most influential factors were: advanced electronic platforms for transparency, 2-way communication and decision making, re-definition of political parties, technologies to manage attention and time.
