WALL-E Track Project HD
First test of my home built WALL-E track drive. The wheels were hand fabricated from wood, then cast in silicon rubber. The final parts were cast using urethane rubber, similar in density to shopping cart wheels. The motor is an NPC Robotics 2212 12volt DC gear motor. In the video I am running at only 6volts for testing purposes...at 12volts it would be nearly twice as fast. I will be casting urethane rubber treads which will cover up the plastic conveyor track. There are 32 treads per side, so it will take a bit of time to cast and mount them all. The only other detail missing is the triangular pivot point located between the lower drive wheels and sprockets. That part will be hand made and cast in urethane as well. I hope to have the completed drive ready shortly, which will be fully remote controlled. Keep an eye out for the next video. Thanks for watching! -Michael Special thanks to NPC Robotics, BJB Enterprises for all the help with the urethanes, as well as Burman Industries for the casting silicon. And of course, the creative team of WALL-E Builders on the Yahoo! Groups...you continue to inspire me with your unlimited creativity.
