Bulgaria - Major storm swept the Burgas region | Bulgarian resort of Pomorie, severely affected

A strong storm hit the Burgas region on the Black Sea coast. Strong winds of more than 100 km/ha uprooted hundreds of trees and the roofs of buildings, while dozens of boats and yachts were swept out to sea. The worst affected was the Bulgarian resort of Pomorie. The storm suddenly hit the Burgas region on Saturday afternoon and passed within ten minutes. However, it left a disaster behind as the wind speed reached 100 km/h according to the Varna Hydrometeorological Observatory. There were no casualties, fortunately, but the resort of Pomorie is the worst affected. Residents were left without electricity and roads were blocked due to trees uprooted by strong winds. Dozens of yachts and boats were taken out to sea, and one person fell overboard, who was saved by other people who are on the sea, informed the regional governor of Burgas. The strong storm also affected traffic on the Sofia – Plovdiv – Burgas railway. Volunteers and emergency services are working to clear the damage caused by the torrential rain and strong winds.
