How To Make A Metal Butterfly Knife HD

This is an instructional video on how to make a balisong (aka: butterfly knife). It will take at least one full day to complete this project. Here are the complete instructions using only a bench grinder, hack saw, drill, jig saw, and hammer. Trace the knife blade (shown at 0:12) onto a circular saw blade. Cut it out with a rotary saw (or jig saw). Drill holes in the blade where they are shown at 0:12 Sharpen the blade. Cut 4 bars of metal the size of the handles (half the total blade width). Grind the handles to whatever shape you want. Drill a hole in each end of each handle piece (use a larger drill bit to avoid breaking it) Add inlays or holes in the handle for decoration. Sand the handles. Put the knife together: Place washers (or pieces of metal with a hole in it) between 2 pieces of handle aligned with the holes. Put a pin through a handle then the washer then the other handle in a stack. Hammer the pin through all three pieces flat on both ends (this rivets all three pieces together) Make the other handle (Repeat above steps) Put a pin through the free end of the handle and the hole in the blade. Hammer the pins to attach both handles to the blade. Hammer a pin into the two remaining holes in the blade. Cut notches in the handles to line up with the pins just placed in the blade.
