Oklahoma State 2001 Plane Crash Memorial Service
More than 10,000 people filled historic Gallagher-Iba Arena to pay their respects to ten men - Kendall Durfey, Bjorn Fahlstrom, Nate Fleming, Will Hancock, Daniel Lawson, Brian Luinstra, Denver Mills, Pat Noyes, Bill Teegins and Jared Weiberg - lost in a plane crash in Colorado on January 27, 2001. In the arena where they had played and worked, the 10 victims of a weekend plane crash were remembered as champions Wednesday by their Oklahoma State classmates and friends. "We have really been through some tough days and we have some tough days ahead of us," said Kelly Ogle, a TV anchorman and colleague of one of the victims, KWTV sports anchorman Bill Teegins. Those in attendance included Cedric Dempsey, executive director of the NCAA, basketball coaches Roy Williams of Kansas and Rick Barnes of Texas, Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops, retired Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer and PGA golfers Bob Tway and Scott Verplank.
