Brooksby Level Crossing HD
Friday June 6 2014 at 6.23 am. The 5.22 Birmingham to Stansted Airport (8.39) train, the first passenger train of the day, heads towards Melton Mowbray, Peterborough and Cambridge. A long trip that must be far less pleasant in mid winter. There was a station here until 1961 with the result that there are no stations at all on the 15 miles of line between Leicester and Melton Mowbray. Brooksby itself has been a deserted village for 500 years with, apparently, just 3 or 4 houses. Strangely, out of the hundreds of half barrier crossings in England, this is one of a handful chosen to have traffic cameras.
