Legendary Pickup Basketball at West Point: Coach K, Ashe, Knight, Parcells, Schwarzkopf HD

08.07.2018
DURING THE LATE 1960s, half-court basketball at the military academy sometimes pitted Arthur Ashe and Bobby Knight versus Bill Parcells and Norman Schwarzkopf. As a world-class tennis player, Ashe, 24, was fulfilling his military service in the ROTC program Following a stint in South Vietnam, Schwarzkopf, 33, was an academic instructor. Parcells, 26, coached linebackers for Army while Knight, 27, guided its basketball program. Oh, and his starting point guard was a 20-year-old officer named Mike Krzyzewski. As former high-school superstars, Parcells and Knight were perhaps the best ballers. Regardless, the competition among the legends-in-the-making was fierce — make ‘em, take ‘em to 10 buckets.
