Sounds Sick Episode 20: Laney DP 300 HD
Welcome to episode #20 of Sounds Sick, the format, where we´re gonna present a bunch of cool and/or unusual stuff from our studio! The videos show the sound that really let´s the amp/gear shine , in our opinion. Wether it´s a jangly clean tone or fuzzy rock sound. BASS EDITION: This time we´re presenting the Laney DP 300. This is an early 90s Solid State Bass Head, that delivers 300 Watts at 4 Ohms. Another Laney! This is a great bass amp that kicks most modern 300w Class-D amps in the butt! Real loud and real punchy! Interestingly enough, although the DP300 and DP150 shouldn´t be too different except for the Output, this amp does sound way different than the DP150. It is a lot more modern sounding, tighter (as expected), but it still has that bass punch to it, which a lot of other bass amps seem to lack. It is not quite as old school and raunchy sounding as the DP150, but it pushes quite a bit more low end through the air! Signal Chain: Epiphone Firebird IV Pro Laney DP 300 2x15" (Eminence Mic´d) Mic´d with a Shure sm57 up close, and a Brauner Phanthera for ambience/room. Some D.I. signal has also been blended in.
