SFC, Saudi Fighting Championship, a professional organization for Mixed Martial Arts with the same concept as that of UFC was founded this year by Coach Ahmad Makki who is a professional MMA fighter and Coach Mohammad Najjar who is one of the first MMA instructors in the kingdom and trained many of the well known Arab pro fighters like Abdulahad Qari. Last Friday February the 17th, SFC threw its first amateur cage fighting championship in Sport’s Tech Gym Jeddah with 14 fights where 7 different gyms across the country participated: Sport’s Tech Jeddah, Spider Team, Jeddah. MMA Jeddah, Mokatil Team, Jeddah. Bwell Gym, Jeddah. Al Noor Gym, Taif. Platinum Fighter, Riyadh. KTG Gym, Makkah. Panorama Gym, Al Qunfudhah Makki and Najjar are planning to have more competitions some of which will include pro fights. They aim to go international and attract fighters from different countries in the near future. At the end of this remarkable competition they thanked the General Authority of Youth & Sports Welfare for their support and thanked all the other teams who competed from Jeddah and those who flew all the way to Jeddah to compete in this event for the love of the game. Coach Abbas, founder of Legendary Heroes Martial Arts Academy at Gold’s Gym Jeddah that is well known for throwing MMA and BJJ competitions since 2009 was present at this event and said “SFC truly organized a very successful event, best MMA competition I have seen around here yet. Jeddah has always been the fountain of these types of competitions and martial arts shows. I hope it keeps on growing until Jeddah becomes the capital of Martial Arts in the Middle East….. This is our legacy”.
