American Bald Eagle (16-3855) HD

An American bald eagle arrived at CROW yesterday from Pine Island Sound with a serious leg injury. The adult male eagle weighs approximately 6 lbs. and was quiet, dehydrated and emaciated. A blood transfusion was performed without any complications and latest tests indicate an increase in red blood cells. During the morning exam, the eagle was showing signs of slight improvement and was more alert, vocal and attempting to stand. The eagle will be closely monitored, receive daily exams and fluids to increase strength and weight.
