Love and companionship: Woman shaves head to support her friend fighting Leukemia HD
Lulu shaved her head in support of her Leukemia-stricken friend Yanzi who cried over her long hairs cut off to prevent infection in Chongqing, southwest China. Yanzi was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia half a year ago and had thereafter gone through six courses of chemotherapy. Lulu said Yanzi needed a bone marrow transplant which was feasible after 4 courses of chemo. However, the surgery had been postponed several times because they could not afford the cost. In addition to taking care of Yanzi in the hospital for 10 days and spending 4 to 6 days at home helping Yanzi make adjustments every month, Lulu earned about $150 working as a part-time courier 12 to 13 days per month, making 30 to 40 deliveries on average every day. Lulu got back home to cook Yanzi every lunch and dinner. Yanzi said her 23rd birthday wish was to live 50 more years. Although Yanzi doubted whether it was possible, she really wanted to stay alive.
