The hilly areas cover a large portion of Bangladesh. These hills are seen in Chittagong, Chittagong Hill Tracts and Sylhet regions. The hills are of different heights. Generally the hills with high altitude are found in Bandarbans. The hills in Sylhet region are comparatively of low height. These hills were formed in tertiary period. The hills are arrayed like a wave from one place to another and, with time, have formed a distinct ecosystem. This ecosystem is rich with evergreen and mixed evergreen forests, of which various species of wildlife are inseparable part. So the hilly areas have turned into a rich natural resource and hilly lives are sustaining depending on it. For being situated in the temperate region, a lot of rainfall occur in the hilly forests. The combined flow of rain water creates fountains. There are various sizes of fountains in the hills. The large fountains are also known as waterfalls. Among the notable fountains of this country there are Suvlong Fountain, Tinap Saitar, Madhabkunda Fountain, Himchari, Rijhuk Fountain, Sahasradhara Fountain etc. The Madhabkunda Waterfall is situated at Barolekha upazila in Moulavibazar district. It is a well-known fountain. The Fountain water flows in a main stream throughout the year. But the Madhabkunda Fountain becomes more attractive with continuous water flow in the rainy season. Due to such beauty the area, containing this fountain, has been declared as an Eco park. Rangamati is a land of natural beauty. The Kaptai Lake, surrounded by the hills, is the main attraction here. The Suvlong Foiuntain falls from the high hill beside the lake. This fountain becomes almost dry in the winter. The water falls down to the lake from the fountain in the rainy season. Most of the attractive fountains of Bangladesh are seen in Bandarbans. The Tinap Saitar Fountain is situated in the dense forest of Roangchari in Bandarbans. High hills are there in the both sides of the fountain. The waterfall of Tinap Saitar is flowing in between those hills. The flowing water crashes on the rocks and makes fascinating noise. Its water flow has reached the Sangu River. The Sangu is one of the prominent rivers in Bandarbans. It is flowing spirally between the hills. The Rijhuk Fountain is falling from the hill sited on the bank of this river. Its height is about 100 feet. The water flows from this fountain throughout the year, which has role in maintaining the navigability of the Sangu River. The natural fountain Shailapropat is situated in the way of Bandarbans-Ruma. This fountain is an amazing creation of nature. The water flow of the fountain is clear and cold. So local people use this water for their daily needs. The Himchari National Park is surrounded by the sea in one side and hills on the other. The Himchari Fountain is the main attraction of the Park.
