Is it Possible to Work an ATNO with an AlphaLoop Antenna? HD

21.03.2019
Grace and Dad decided to take the HF go box and the 100 watt AlphaLoop antenna (http://bit.ly/alphaloop100w) to a local park to see what contacts we could make. She called "CQ" on 20 meters and made a few contacts and then we decided to see how well the antenna worked as an NVIS antenna. A quick call on the telephone brought Hope (KM4IPF) up on frequency and we figured out that the antenna is EXTREMELY directional! Hope could barely hear Grace when the antenna was broadside to our home, which was about 5 miles away, but when the antenna was turned so it was pointing to Hope, she heard Grace with no problems. After that experiment, we noticed that Janusz (E6AF) on the island of Niue, was on 15 meters and we decided to try to work an All Time New One (ATNO). Once we got the antenna tuned and pointed in his direction, Hope was already working him as WK1DS and Grace patiently waited her turn. Watch the video to see if she was able to make the contact!
