Why Don’t Official Anime Dubs Edit the Lip Flaps? HD

Ok so we’ve gotten this comment A LOT ever since we started these VO-related editorials on our channel and it’s easy to fantasize about the possibilities of re-editing mouth flaps to make anime more like prelay, especially since so many people already do it online. If you used editing to change the amount of flaps, you could theoretically make the animation fit the English translation without compromising the meaning of the original Japanese script or you’d be able to allow actors so much more freedom with their timing since they’d no longer have to conform to locked-in, pre-established footage.
