DAHRA. 11 years old, woman, Afar, stubborn...(trailer) HD

Dahra, a young 11 years old Afar girl, lives at Galaha, a village that developed beside to an old hospital for tuberculosis of Doctors Without Borders, closed since 2007. She had never been to school, but she would go, it’s her dream. Her parents are against it, but she’s well known for her stubborn character and she doesn’t drop her decision. When Dahra seems to gain her struggle, the federal government orders everybody in the village to leave and to desert everything. It’s a forced displacement, a more and more common condition for the Afar people living in the Awash Valley. In fact, this valley is exploited by the government and the foreign investors to produce sugar cane and cotton. There’s no more place for the people that have always lived there. But, fortunately, Dahra is stubborn... Special mention for the best documentary film at the Festival International Panafricain de Cannes 2016, selected at the Festival international du film environnemental de Conakry.
