Simple food in a clean environment with great service is the key to this famous Daejeon soup joint. Open 24 hours, 태평소국밥 (Tapyeong So-Gukbap), originated in the Tapyeong-dong neighborhood of Daejeon. Since then, they have taken over the entire block, opening 4 restaurants to catch the spillover from the main branch. At all times of the day, patrons come here to cure hangovers or catch a new buzz. And the Ajjumas keep the place spotless while boiling huge chunks of cow in giant broth pots that never get turned off. The soup is intoxicating and addictive. But the real specialty is the raw Hanu beef that is served beside the soup. It comes in tender slices to be dipped in sesame oil, tasking like a more intense tuna. Yukhoe, another raw beef dish, has slices of meat tossed in sauce beneath a pile of Korean pear and pine nuts.
