This is where they take the leather and they stretch it around the last (the shape that the boot is made on) and then its stitched up the heel. This is a really strong way of making a boot. The other feature are these two tags. Again with R.M. Williams looking for longevity and strength, the rear tag is stitch right into the heel counter. Looking at the sole unit, the dynamic flex, this started its life out in what was an “airport friendly” boom. And the reason its airport friendly is that they use a nylon shank. A shank is a support system that runs between the heel counter and the mid-sole, and offers all of the support around the arch. Generally they would use a steel shank and in this boot they are using a nylon shank. The Dynamic Flex sole unit is really flexible, really durable, but also they have this fantastic removable insole. This is really cushioned and really supportive around the arch.
