Methane The oncoming methane disaster Is too big for humans to master; The reason we’re beat: With increasing heat The bubbles rise faster and faster. If methane really goes nuts, It will be a quick kick in the guts; Though we might not agree On the time and degree, It’s coming, no ifs, ands, or buts. Here comes the methane: it’s troubling, Your woes are, at minimum, doubling; It will chomp on your brain, And make you insane, Bubbling, bubbling, bubbling.... Methane releases might mean The end of the whole Holocene: We’ll become obsolete ‘Cause we burned stuff for heat And triggered a doomsday machine. Our air will get more CH4 As ice melts yield methane galore; Getting the math straight, The totaled up clathrate Adds up to too much to ignore. Many things could have come down the track To strike the definitive whack, But clathrates that thaw Might be the last straw That breaks the poor camel’s back. == It’s been running around in my brain, Who knows?
