Monty Roberts Join Up

sorry for bad quality/sound ;-) And when he decides to go away from me, I´m going to say to him: that´s okay, go walk away. But don´t go away a little, go away a lot. And Filou is going away. And he is a beautiful mover. Eyes on eye, shoulders (across). And the only thing Filou is saying to me is: okay I go away. How do I know that? ´Cause he´s going away. That´s just logical. He has to go away, in the horse world, for about half a kilometre. Half a kilometre in both directions that is quarter a kilometre in one direction and quarter a kilometre in the other direction. So, then he knows both ways in this Round Pen. And after about 4 or 5 laps in each direction, then I´m going to turn him around and put him back in the original direction that he (trotted). And when I do, then I´m going to explain to you, what his communication is saying. I´m going to predict the point. I´m still eyes on eye, shoulders (across). Now, I´m going to turn him around and go in the original direction. That´s the ear on this side. That ear will (point) on me like that. And the other ear will move towards the rest of the world. This ear says I respect you. And Filou will make a smaller circle. There are 4 gestures that I´m looking for. The ear, the smaller circle, licking and chewing and dropping the head down to the floor. So, let´s (watch) his communication. Normally the second gesture is to make the smaller circle. But it´s like a conversation in human language, it can change round a little bit. And everybody says things a little bit different. So we see that Filou says in his language, in his conversation: okay. Now he´s willing to lift his head down. And that´s generally the 4th gesture. But it´s okay that´s what he wants to do. We´re going to see the whole conversation before it´s over. So just keep watching. I´m just letting him trot, but I could speed him up and now he´s chewing a little bit here. Watch now as I open my fingers and show him the palm of my hand. I can speed him up and send him further from me with my fingers open. He´ll watch that hand now and when I point it down across my body, then I can slow him down. And maybe cause him to lift his head down. So he knows his own language. I read his book. The book of the horse is 50 million years old. And I know I´m old, but not 50 million years old. So we see (what I do with my finger): faster, close it down, slower and drop the head. Open my fingers again. Now he´s really licking and chewing. See the tongue coming out? Now I´d like him to make a little bit smaller circle. Watch him, see, if he comes a little bit closer, just a little bit closer to me. Now he´s out there again, but he will keep coming over a little bit to say: I´d like to come closer to you. He´s ready for Join Up. So, I´m going to ask him to come to me now, by getting my shoulder past his middle, dropping my eyes down and putting my shoulders on a 45 degree angle to his body. So he faces me and then I just walk away and pull him near to me.
