India CDS News Live | India Gets New Chief Of Defence Staff | Lt. Gen. (R) Anil Chauhan Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retd) Appointed Chief of Defence Staff, 9 Months After Bipin Rawat’s Death. The Centre on Wednesday decided to appoint Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) who will also function as the secretary to the Government of India, Department of Military Affairs with effect from the date of his assumption of charge and until further orders. The appointment comes nine months after Gen Bipin Rawat’s death in a chopper crash. According to a government release, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan had held several commands, staff and instrumental appointments and had extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and the Northeast. #cds #indianarmy #newcds
