Lexus LX 600 4K Ultra HD
The LX 600 is the fourth generation of Lexus’ flagship SUV and sports new styling, a redesigned interior more focused on luxury and tech, and a complete powertrain overhaul. Still, the range-topper retains the rugged body-on-frame construction and solid rear axle layout shared with its new Tundra and Land Cruiser siblings. On the surface, the LX 600’s exterior follows a similar theme of boxy and bold styling as the Toyotas. Underneath, it ditches the third generation’s naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V8 in favor of a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The new powertrain should help to improve both power and fuel economy for the range-topping SUV, which will span a total of five trim levels topping out with a VIP limo-style Ultra Luxury package and the performance-themed F Sport. Where other manufacturers have been toning down their exterior styling for 2022 with smoother lines and simpler details, Toyota and Lexus went bigger and bolder for the LX 600. The behemoth front “spindle” grille will probably prove the most divisive element. A more attractive blacked-out option appears on the F Sport package, which also marks the first time that Lexus has applied the performance-focused trim level to the LX.A new headlight design, intake ducts and wheel options ranging from 18 to 22 inches also represent departures from the previous LX 570’s profile. A new platform, codenamed GA-F inside Toyota, underpins the LX 600 and allows Lexus to focus on off-roading capabilities thanks to a solid rear axle and four-link rear suspension. Opting for the smaller V6 and plenty of aluminum trims the curb weight by 441 pounds compared to the outgoing model, despite increasing rigidity by 20 percent. The twin-turbo V6 produces peaks of 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, transmitted via to a torque-converter 10-speed auto with optimized ratios to allow for both slow crawling and highway cruising. Four-wheel drive comes standard with high and low ranges. The LX also receives electronic power steering and electronically controlled brakes. Revised suspension mounting points on the GA-F create new angles all around, allowing for longer spring and shock stroke. Lexus also added both Active Height Control and Active Variable Suspension. If the new LX 600 appears like it’s catering to both mall and rock crawlers, the interior tech and safety features definitely lean towards the former. The redesign includes dual infotainment screens measuring 12.3 inches up top and seven inches below, in addition to an eight-inch digital gauge cluster. An unimaginatively named Human Machine Interface detects sight, touch and voice for controlling navigation, media, and vehicle settings. The long-awaited fourth-gen also introduces the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite of driver’s aids. The package includes industry standards like collision warnings, emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping tech and even road
