Salman Taseer speaks about blasphemy law

Salman Taseer a controversial character of the peoples party government was shot dead on 4th Jan 2011 by one of his official guards. Salman Taseer is an industrialist who worked pretty hard to climb up the stairs and finally ended up as the governor of the province Punjab. As per media reports the police man was a part of elite forces, he surrendered to the remaining guards right after shooting Mr. Taseer. The elite force guard Mumtaz Qadri told the press that he had killed Mr. Taseer due to his efforts to bring down the blasphemy law and his support to the Asia Bibi case. Many of us still wonder what was blasphemy law was it a good idea to support it or not. Many of us still wonder what was blasphemy law was it a good idea to support it or not. In my opinion the blasphemy law is one of the many dark laws that the country of Pakistan has. Although many of us think that since we are an Islamic nation therefore we are supposed have such strict laws for the protection of our prophet and his book which is in fact true but only to a certain extent. When the population of country or a group of people from that population starts using the weaknesses of such laws for their personal gains that law needs to revised. Besides the Asia Bibi case became very vocal to the Christian population, even though many of individuals from the Muslim population had also previously been falsely accused under the same law. Removal of the would have been a good step and I am neither a supporter of the present government nor the politicians of the country. I wish that whoever takes the place of Mr. Taseer handles the situation the same way.
